Who Qualifies For Your Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.

Applications at the moment are open and will close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should satisfy the following criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a home with a combined gross home earnings that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined house revenue won't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and want not post any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent inhabitants from households with nsfas status combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to supply the correct Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored in their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are learning or intend to research in a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for 2025 nsfas application matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply 2025 nsfas application now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
